A Proud Achievement in Indonesia’s Amateur Satellite: Launch of GS Pakubuwono AMSAT-ID

Jakarta, June 19, 2025 — A proud achievement was celebrated by Indonesia’s amateur satellite community with the successful launch of the GS Pakubuwono AMSAT-ID on Thursday, June 19, 2025. The event was vibrant and engaging, attended by both amateur radio operators from various regions and non-amateur guests who share a passion for satellite and communication technology.

The ground station is the result of a dedicated collaboration between YDØACE, YBØOSU, and YDØAVJ, with full support from AMSAT-ID. Initiated in late March 2025, this facility now stands as one of the advanced technical standards and complete amateur ground stations outside of government-owned infrastructure.

In their opening remarks, AMSAT-ID representatives emphasized that the launch of GS Pakubuwono is not just a technical achievement, but the realization of a long-standing aspiration to establish a high-standard facility that supports amateur satellite communications, education, and experimentation.

The event featured a series of engaging activities, including guided tours of the ground station, live satellite communication demonstrations, and interactive discussions on the strategic importance of resilient communication systems in national preparedness and education. Attendees were introduced to various amateur satellites accessible via GS Pakubuwono.

Enthusiasm filled the air as participants—especially young tech enthusiasts—actively engaged in Q&A sessions and networked with fellow radio operators and technologists. The event also opened doors for future collaborations across communities, particularly in research, youth education, and innovation in satellite technology.

With the official inauguration of GS Pakubuwono AMSAT-ID, it is hoped that similar initiatives will emerge across Indonesia, positioning satellite-based communication as a key pillar in supporting education, experimentation, and emergency communication readiness.
